Lantern Slide 6: The Capitol Building as seen from Pennsylvania Avenue in 1831. While this was being built, Congress met in the “Brick Capitol” which stood where the Supreme Court now stands. The dome in this slide was the “Bulfinch Come” and was made out of wood. This dome was removed in 1855, when the present dome was erected.
