CERL hosts senior Army installation, energy, environment leadership

U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center, Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL), wildlife biologist Dr. Jinelle Sperry briefs the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment Bryan Gossage on how the CERL threatened and endangered species (TES) research team uses environmental Deoxyribonucleic acid (eDNA) to identify species’ presence on military lands at the CERL in Champaign, Ill., Oct. 30, 2020. This research, along with the TES team’s years of experience in TES science and management strategies has resulted in the release of training restrictions on thousands of acres of military training lands and properly categorized several at risk and endangered species.
