U.S. Army Spc. Marzelle Day and Spc. Eric Kappel perform combat casualty care on a simulated Military Working Dog while participating in a collaborative exercise including 131st MP Detachment Grafenwoehr, Vilseck Veterinary Service and C Co 1-214 Dust-off (12th CAB) to simulate field care, loading, transport, and in-route emergency medical care for MWD’s, Vilseck, Germany, 20 OCT, 2020. MWD handlers worked with Animal Care Specialists and Flight Medics to better understand the principles of safe evacuation procedures and emergency care of MWD’s, while the training helped the dogs get better acclimated to the sights, sounds, and feel of a MEDEVAC situation.
