A soldier in full combat gear and helmet is positioned low in tall grass in an open field, appearing to be in a prone or crouching observation posture. To the soldier's left, a white or light-colored object — possibly a parachute or tarp — lies partially visible among the grass. The scene suggests a military field exercise or operational deployment in a lush, vegetated environment under overcast skies.

A U.S. Marine Corps Reconnaissance Marine, with 3d Reconnaissance Battalion, 3d Marine Division, provides security after completing a high altitude-low opening jump to secure an airfield, facilitating a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System rapid infiltration and simulated firing mission at Ie Shima, Japan, Sept. 24, 2020. The exercise represented a step forward in demonstrating how III Marine Expeditionary Force units can leverage the unique capabilities of joint partners in rapidly dispersing to and operating from key maritime terrain, sustain distributed positions, and quickly displace or withdraw as necessitated by the tactical situation.
