A military personnel in camouflage uniform stands on the edge of an unpaved/semi-improved airstrip holding a radio while a large four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft lands or taxis on the runway, kicking up dust. The scene appears to be a forward or austere airfield operation, likely a combat or exercise scenario involving ground-to-air coordination. The setting features a grassy, tropical-looking environment under overcast skies.

U.S. Air Force Maj. Sean Sizemore, an air mobility liaison officer with Air Mobility Command and embedded with III Marine Expeditionary Force, surveys the runway and calls in a C-130 for landing during a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System rapid infiltration mission at Ie Shima, Japan, Sept. 24, 2020. The exercise represented a step forward in demonstrating how III Marine Expeditionary Force units can leverage the unique capabilities of joint partners in rapidly dispersing to and operating from key maritime terrain, sustain distributed positions, and quickly displace or withdraw as necessitated by the tactical situation. Sizemore is a native of Sacramento, California. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Donovan Massieperez)
