NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Sept. 17, 2020) Senior Chief Aviation Ordnanceman Volario Lott, right, a leading chief petty officer of the weapons department aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) is pinned as a senior chief petty officer by Master Chief Aviation Ordnanceman Tyese Pressley, the departmental leading chief petty officer of weapons department aboard George Washington. George Washington is undergoing refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipbuilding. RCOH is a multi-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repairs, upgrades, and modernization.
