A T-wall memorial in honor of U.S. Army Spc. Juan Mendez, with the 1st Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division killed in action March 11, 2020, from injuries sustained during a rocket attack on Camp Taji, Iraq. As the base undergoes transfer to Iraqi forces, Mendez’s mural was among the memorials secured or sanitized before U.S. forces left the base. (U.S. Army photo by Chaplain (Capt.)
