SELFRIDGE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Mich.-- Senior Master Sgt. James Richards (far right) evaluates Staff Sgt. Derrick Mason, a Weapons Load Crew Chief and his crew, Airman 1st Class Matthew Gannon, and Airman 1st Class Robert Gilmore, all from the 127th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan, as they load the GAU-8/A 30MM internal gun system of the A-10 Thunderbolt II. The ammunition loading system is able to upload and download the 30MM rounds simultaneously, enabling the aircraft's gun to be reloaded rapidly for critical combat missions.
