The inside of a solar observing optical network telescope at the Learmonth Solar Observatory, Australia, Aug. 28, 2019. The telescope, operated by U.S. Air Force 2nd Weather Squadron, Detachment 1, is used to monitor daily solar activity. The observatory is one of five solar observatories around the world maintained by the 2d Weather Squadron and is operated jointly with the Australian Bureau of Meteorology’s Space Weather Services.
