    200226-N-ZI768-1050
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Feb. 26, 2020) Capt. Kenneth Strong, left, the commanding officer of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), and Electrician`s Mate 2nd Class Andrew Tripp, a Sailor assigned to George Washington’s electrical division, cut the first piece of cake following an island lighting ceremony on the ship’s flight deck. The island lighting is the first of many milestones George Washington will achieve in 2020. George Washington is currently undergoing refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a nearly four-year project performed only once during a carrier's 50-year service life that includes refueling the ship's two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repairs, upgrades, and modernization.
