PHILIPPINE SEA (Jan. 27, 2020) Petty Officer 1st Class Brock Swift, a gunner’s mate with the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42) gives a safety brief to his Sailors and Marines with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, before conducting an M240B medium machine gun training. During the training, Marines with CLB-31 gave instructions on the operation of crew-served weapons such as the M240B to Sailors of the Germantown. Germantown, part of the America Expeditionary Strike Group, 31st MEU team, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
