Marisol Emerson, certified optometry assistant, demonstrates how the Cirrus Photo 600 scans the back of the eye. The machine’s high definition photos of the optic nerve head and surrounding areas allow doctors to better screen and evaluate patients for glaucoma and other ocular issues. Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness worldwide but treatable if caught early. (U.S. Army photo by Patricia Deal, CRDAMC Public Affairs)
