Lt. Col. Michael P. Hubbard, the inspector instructor of the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, pauses for a photo with Marine veteran Donald W. Thorpe, a member of the China Marine Association June 14, during Marine Week Cleveland, which ends June 17. Marine Week served as an opportunity to show community members the diverse capabilities of the Corps in air, on land and at sea. As the company high-shooter during boot camp, Thorpe served most of his time following World War II as a rifle coach and a member of a rifle team. After leaving the Marine Corps as a sergeant, Thorpe went to college and was relocated to Ohio as an employee of a proposed three-month project. Thorpe has called the Cleveland area his home ever since.
