California Jobs Challenge (CAJC) scholar Raymundo Maciel, 18, of Westminster, laughs while waiting in line for class registration and financial aid assistance Aug. 7, 2019, at Cypress College in Cypress, California. Maciel will study automotive technology at the college while he and fellow scholars, ages 17-21, live at nearby Joint Forces Training Base, Los Alamitos, during the CAJC's five and a half month in-residence career training program. CAJC is a new follow-on program for graduates of the three National Guard youth challenge programs facilitated by the California National Guard.
