    U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Carter Dawson and Pfc. Sergio Garduno, both Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense specialists with CBRN platoon, Headquarters Battalion, 3d Marine Division, complete a CBRN reconnaissance to check the air for any potential hazardous materials during Exercise Habu Sentinel on Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 9, 2019. Exercise Habu Sentinel allows CBRN response platoon the opportunity to conduct progressive responses based off of intelligence feedback from conditions on the battlefield. This training gives Marines valuable, real-life scenarios and promotes combat readiness. Dawson is a native of Wilmington, N.C., and Garduno is a native of Chicago, Ill.
