SAN DIEGO (Dec. 4, 2019) Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) staff perform septorhinoplasty surgery on a patient in the main operating room Dec. 4. Septorhinoplasty is an operation that improves the appearance and function of the nose. The surgery involves operating on the bones and cartilage that give the nose its shape and structure and straightens the septum. NMCSD’s mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high-quality healthcare services, and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research. NMCSD employs more than 6,000 active duty military personnel, civilians and contractors in Southern California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere.
