Phillipe Ritter, son of recently accounted for George L. Ritter, shows his father’s hat at the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) facility on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Nov. 19, 2019. Ritter was an Air America pilot flying a C-123 on Dec. 27, 1971 when the aircraft went down for unknown reasons in Laos. Ritter and the two other men aboard were killed in the crash. All three men were identified and accounted for by DPAA in 2018. DPAA’s mission is to provide the fullest possible accounting of our missing personnel to their families and the nation.
