191111-N-WX378-0138 NEW YORK (Nov. 11, 2019) Service members salute the wreath laying at the Eternal Light Flagstaff at Madison Square Park prior to the New York Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11, 2019. President Donald J. Trump spoke to the crowd on the 100th Anniversary of World War I and was the first sitting president to attend New York City’s Veterans Day parade. This year, the Veterans Day celebration will commemorate the centennial of the holiday, established in 1919 as Armistice Day. It commemorated the anniversary of the end of World War I and was officially renamed to Veterans Day in 1954. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Bryan Ilyankoff)
