191031-N-XK887-1642 DIEGO GARCIA, British Indian Ocean Territory (Oct. 31, 2019) Builder Constructionman Benjamin Weinreich, from Mora, Minnesota, deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5’s Detachment Diego Garcia, drills holes through a 2’x6’ board to secure a power screed that will be used during the first concrete placement in Diego Garcia during the current deployment. The placement is the first of five that will take place to erect a tension fabric structure that will be used by the U.S. Air Force. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
