191029-N-XK887-1585 DIEGO GARCIA, British Indian Ocean Territory (Oct. 29, 2019) Steelworker 3rd Class Dalton O’Cain, from Weirsdale, Florida, deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5’s Detachment Diego Garcia, measures and sets reinforcing steel at the proper spacing prior to a concrete placement on Diego Garcia. The concrete pad will serve as the foundation for a tension fabric structure that will be used by the U.S. Air Force, increasing their operability for future operations. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
