Kinnard State Veterans Cemetery in Institute, W.Va., Oct. 31, 2019. Summers served in Company H, 4th West Virginia Infantry during the American Civil War and took part in a major campaign in Vicksburg, Miss., May 22, 1863, for which he was awarded the Medal of Honor for gallantry.
