    U.S. Navy Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class Joshua Singleton serves as the landing signalman during flight operations with a Mexican navy BO-105 helicopter on the flight deck of the guided missile frigate USS Underwood (FFG 36) May 21, 2012, in the Pacific Ocean for Unitas 53 Pacific. Underwood was representing the U.S. Navy in support of Unitas 53 PAC and Southern Seas 2012. Unitas, Latin for "unity," is an annual U.S. Southern Command-sponsored, multinational naval exercise designed to enhance security cooperation and improve coalition operations between South American and U.S. maritime forces. Southern Seas is a U.S. Southern Command-directed operation designed to strengthen relationships with regional partner nations and improve operational readiness for all assigned units.
