Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Mike Ferriter works on techniques with a couple of the 65 competitors at the 2019 Ohio Army National Guard Combatives Tournament, Sept. 14, 2019, at the Maj. Gen. Robert S. Beightler Armory in Columbus, Ohio. Ferriter was one of the main developers of the Modern Army Combatives Program when it began two decades ago and spoke to this year’s field of competitors at the tournament’s outset.
