Cmdr. Brian Nowak renders a salute as he departs a change of command ceremony for Naval Submarine Support Center, New London (NSSC NLON) aboard the historic ship USS Nautilus (SSN 571) at Naval Submarine Base, New London in Groton, Connecticut, Sept. 20, 2019. Cmdr. Shawn William relieved Nowak as commanding officer of NSSC NLON. The submarine support command provides centralized assistance to two Submarine Squadrons and their assigned submarines in; administration, personnel management, operations, supply readiness, force protection, weapons, medical readiness, personnel security, legal, religious programs, embedded mental health and critical maintenance monitoring.
