An Army National Guard soldier tackles the lush green hills of Camp San Luis Obispo, Calif., during the land navigation event of the 2012 Region VII Best Warrior Competition, April 23. The California Army National Guard is hosting the competition to Army Guardsmen from eight states including Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. The 2012 Region VII BWC will test competitors on the new Army Combat Readiness Test, day and night land navigation, a foot march of unknown distance, weapons qualification, an obstacle course, among other challenges through April 26, concluding with an awards ceremony.
