Soldiers from the 661st Engineer Company, Illinois National Guard, assigned to the 7th Engineer Battalion, work on clearing, grubbing, and leveling the initial Boeing C-17 Globemaster III airlifter’s crash site at forward Operating Base Shank, March 4. The C-17 overshot the runway and the ensuing crash damaged the front landing gear and the underbelly of the airlifter.
