Two soldiers in full combat gear walk along a dirt path through an open field while a large-scale military airborne operation takes place overhead. Numerous parachutes — approximately 20 or more — are visible at various altitudes descending from the sky. The setting appears to be a rural training or drop zone area bordered by a tree line.

    173rd Airborne Brigade

U.S. Army paratroopers assigned to 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade perform an airborne proficiency jump over Bunker Drop Zone in Grafenwoehr Training Area, August 14, 2019. Airborne proficiency jumps allow paratroopers to continually experience airborne operations and build upon well-established techniques that refresh their memory and maintain combat readiness.

The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army’s Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to Europe, Africa and Central Commands areas of responsibilities. Forward deployed across Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build partnerships and strengthen the alliance.
