A group of approximately 15 military personnel in full combat gear are posed in a single line across an open grassy field. They are wearing camouflage uniforms, helmets, and what appear to be parachute harnesses or tactical vests, suggesting airborne or paratrooper unit affiliation. A treeline of tall pine and deciduous trees forms the background under a partly cloudy sky.

    173rd Airborne Brigade

U.S. Army paratroopers assigned to 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade perform an airborne proficiency jump over Bunker Drop Zone in Grafenwoehr Training Area, August 14, 2019. Airborne proficiency jumps allow paratroopers to continually experience airborne operations and build upon well-established techniques that refresh their memory and maintain combat readiness.

The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army’s Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to Europe, Africa and Central Commands areas of responsibilities. Forward deployed across Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build partnerships and strengthen the alliance.
