Marines and sailors attached to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, along with their Armed Forces of the Philippines counterparts, spent over a month building new classrooms at a Puerto Princea school during Balikatan 2012, which is an annual bilateral training exercise designed to build the joint interoperability between Philippine and U.S. military members. In its 28th iteration, BK12 also includes ground military training operations on both Palawan and Luzon provinces and a natural disaster response command post exercise in Luzon province. Beydler is the commanding general of 1st MAW, III Marine Expeditionary Force. Bayrom is the vice mayor of Puerto Princesa city. Amon is the deputy commander of the Western Command, Armed Forces Philippines. Rodriguez is the deputy chief of staff for civil military operations, AFP.
