Philippine Army Staff Sgt. Alex Alcoran, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Special Forces, identifies a suspected explosive device and prepares to disarm it during a training scenario, April 23, at Fort Magsaysay, Philippines, as part of the bilateral field training exercise during Exercise Balikatan 2012. Balikatan is an annual Republic of the Philippines-U.S. military exercise focusing on field training, humanitarian assistance and a command post exercise. Additionally, it increases our armed forces’ ability to respond quickly and work together efficiently to provide relief and assistance in the event of natural disasters and other crises.
