U.S. Army Gen. Stephen J. Townsend, commander, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), right, is greeted by U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Michael Turello, commanding general, Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, August 5, 2019. Townsend took command of AFRICOM on July 26, 2019. As commander of AFRICOM Townsend is in charge of military relations with African nations, the African Union and African regional security organizations.
