U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District employees Sean Fritzges, a construction representative, and Katie Perkins, a civil engineer, discuss Poplar Island expansion construction progress with a contractor on-site of the expansion July 11, 2019. The expansion, authorized by Congress in 2007, allowed the project to expand beyond Poplar Island’s 1846 footprint to create an additional 575 acres of dredged material containment and environmental restoration.
