A U.S. Marine in desert camouflage uniform is placing or positioning a rifle barrel-down on a black stand as part of a battlefield memorial ceremony. The memorial includes an American flag, a framed portrait photograph of a fallen service member mounted on a wooden post, and sandbags on the ground. This is a traditional 'Fallen Soldier Battle Cross' or memorial ceremony conducted in what appears to be a forward operating base in a desert environment.
