AL ASAD, Iraq: Private First Class Andrew Wollam, a sapper team member with A Company, 6th Engineering Support Battalion, augmenting 8th ESB and supporting Combat Logistics Battalion 2, 2d Force Service Support Group (Forward), demonstrates probing and uncovering mines found by the team. The Springfield, Ore., native and his fellow sapper team Marines specialize in the discovery and destruction of mines. Sapper teams attach to every convoy CLB-2 dispatches as part of the battalion security and force protection measures to mitigate the mine threat along convoy routes throughout their area of operations.
