Dana Self gave up her job in the Dallas area to care for her 23-year-old son, Pfc. Christopher Sexton. To help offset the lost income, her son receives SCAADL. The Special Compensation for Assistance with Activities of Daily Living is a monthly compensation for primary caregivers who provide non-medical care, support and assistance to a service member suffering from a catastrophic injury or illness.
