The Royal Australian Navy amphibious assault ship HMAS Canberra (L 02), the U.S. Navy Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), the U.S. Navy amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force helicopter destroyer JS Ise (DDH-182) sail in formation with 14 other ships from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, Royal Australian Navy, Royal Canadian Navy and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) during Talisman Sabre 2019 in the Coral Sea, July 11, 2019. Talisman Sabre 2019 illustrates the closeness of the Australian and U.S. alliance and the strength of the military-to-military relationship. This is the eighth iteration of this exercise.
