Staff Sgt. Ilker Irmak, last year's top non-commissioned officer for the Western Regional Medical Command Best Warrior competition, presents the award for this year's top non-commissioned officer, Staff Sgt. John Ahern, April 6, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. Ahern serves as a laboratory technician at Madigan Army Medical Center. Madigan and JBLM hosted the event, which lasted April 2-6 and brought together nine non-commissioned officers and nine soldiers from nine separate medical treatment facilities in the region to test them on a myriad of common soldier skills.
