Col. James Shields, the logistics adviser for the Army's Western Regional Medical Command, and those in attendance applaud Staff Sgt. John Ahern, April 6, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., recognizing him as the top non-commissioned officer for the WRMC Best Warrior competition, which Madigan Army Medical Center and JBLM hosted this year, April 2-6. The event brought together nine non-commissioned officers and nine soldiers from nine separate medical treatment facilities in the region, which encompasses 22 states, and tested the group on a myriad of common soldier skills. Ahern serves as a lab technician for Madigan.
