Brig. Gen. Gary Volesky (left), the deputy commanding general of Maneuver for the 1st Cavalry Division, places the Major General Horatio Gates Bronze Medal around the neck of Col. Scott Efflandt, the commander of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, March 29. Efflandt was awarded the medal in recognition of his service as the commander of the Ironhorse Brigade.
