A group of approximately 20 U.S. Army soldiers in MultiCam/OCP camouflage uniforms pose for a formal group photograph inside what appears to be a military facility or hangar. They are standing in front of a large American flag mounted on a plywood wall, with a 1st Cavalry Division horse head insignia visible in the center background. Several soldiers are wearing distinctive black cavalry Stetson hats, indicating affiliation with a cavalry unit.

Retired Col. Bruce Crandall (left), a Medal of Honor recipient, poses for a picture with soldiers from the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division March 28. Crandall presented the soldiers with air medals for their efforts this past year in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Crandall was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions as a UH-1 Huey pilot on the day of Nov. 14, 1965 in Vietnam. That day, he flew his helicopter into landing zone x-ray 22 times, withstanding enemy fire and a continuous threat from the north Vietnamese as he helped provide ground troops with needed supplies and medical evacuation capabilities.
