A U.S. Army soldier in MultiCam/OCP camouflage uniform and body armor stands beside a military helicopter on what appears to be a forward operating base flight line. The soldier is wearing a distinctive black cavalry Stetson hat adorned with insignia and sunglasses. The helicopter bears a yellow 'AIR CAV' decal associated with the 1st Cavalry Division.

Retired Col. Bruce Crandall (left), a Medal of Honor recipient, poses for a picture with a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter from Task Force Lobos, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division March 28. Crandall was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions as a UH-1 Huey pilot on the day of Nov. 14, 1965 in Vietnam. That day, he flew his helicopter into landing zone x-ray 22 times, withstanding enemy fire and a continuous threat from the north Vietnamese as he helped provide ground troops with needed supplies and medical evacuation capabilities.
