Mampre served with Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division during some of the fiercest battles of World War II. Mampre, a resident of Skokie, died May 31, 2019 at the age of 97. Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division; Brig. Gen. Kris A.
