Paul Pearigen, Navy Medicine West (NMW) commander and chief of the Navy Medical Corps met with Philadelphia VA Medical Center Director Karen Flaherty-Oxler, a retired Navy Medicine rear admiral and nurse corps officer, and Chief of Staff Dr. John J. Kelly to discuss veteran care. Pearigen was in Philadelphia as part of a Navy Office of Community Outreach program that brings senior Navy leaders together with their civilian counterparts in local government, corporate, and civic organizations to increase awareness and understanding of the Navy’s mission.
