A Bataan Memorial March was hosted by the Brainerd, Minn., based 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 194th Armor, at Camp Virginia, Kuwait despite strong desert winds and blowing sand on March 3, 2012. The 1-194 CAB traces its lineage to the 194th Tank Regiment, which fought bravely in the Philippines during World War II before being captured as Prisoners of War and forced into the infamous Bataan Death March. More than 1,000 service members and civilians took part in the 15th Annual Bataan Memorial March hosted by the 1-194 CAB “Battling Bastards,” who are deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation New Dawn, the final phase of post combat operations in Iraq.
