Marines and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force members compete in a tug-of-war competition here, March 11, during exercise Forest Light 12-2. The Marines and JGSDF members conducted the competition following the conclusion of field training events. The purpose of Forest Light 12-2 is to increase interoperability between U.S. and Japanese forces while enhancing individual and unit-level cold weather skills. The Marines are from 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force and the JGSDF members are from 4th Infantry Regiment, 5th Brigade, JGSDF.
