NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Command Sgt. Maj. Rick Megoloff, Arkansas Army National Guard command sergeant major, cases the personal colors of retiring Brig. Gen Kirk Van Pelt here June 8, 2019. Van Pelt retired from the Arkansas National Guard in a ceremony here. Van Pelt was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1985 through the Officer Candidate Program at the Arkansas Regional Training Institute. He commanded an infantry battalion in Baghdad, Iraq, from 2004 to 2005; and garrison command in Taji, Iraq, in 2008. Prior to retiring, he served as the Land Component Commander, Arkansas Army National Guard.
