190529-N-NO450-640 Lawrence, Kan. -- Recently commissioned University of Kansas Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Ensign Kyle Garton carry a tree branch to a disposal area during recovery efforts following a tornado touching down here. Eight newly commissioned Naval officers, former KU NROTC midshipmen and recent graduates of KU were sent to clear debris from the properties of the elder residents, and assist the residents by clearing downed tree limbs, large sections of roofing, scrap metal, glass, and other debris from the area.
