U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Van McCarty, the adjutant general (TAG) for South Carolina, traveled to the Republic of Colombia for the first time as the TAG as part of the South Carolina National Guard's State Partnership Program, May 2019. The South Carolina National Guard and Republic of Colombia have a long-standing relationship through the National Guard's State Partnership Program, formalized in July 2012, that focuses on sharing ideas and practices between the partner nations' militaries.
