NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Feb. 26, 2019)- Information Systems Technician 3rd Class Samantha Barnaby, from Albuquerque, New Mexico, works on a computer in a Carrier Vessel Nuclear Information Technology (CVNIT) space. The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) informations systems technicians (IT) work in conjunction with civilian contractors in order to maintain the CVNIT network for George Washington. George Washington is undergoing refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a nearly four-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling of the ship’s nuclear reactors, as well as significant repair, upgrades and modernization.
