The engine appears to have been neglected for an extended period, showing significant oxidation and wear throughout.

The 1938 Cadillac Model 75 (a full size Cadillac Series 70 V-8 car) varied little from the production model of the era. After the accident the front end was replaced with a 1939 model made by Cadillac-France. Gen. George S. Patton, commander of the 15th Army, was riding in this series 1938 Cadillac when he was fatally injured in a traffic accident in Germany, Dec. 9, 1945. (U.S. Army photo by Capt. Olivia Cobiskey)
